Since our beginning in 1820 as Charlottesville’s first church, Christ Church has proclaimed the good news of Jesus Christ. Each week we hope to communicate the love of God summarized so powerfully by St. Paul in his letter to the Romans: “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

This gospel message is for one and all and is the foundation of our life at Christ Church. Our mission statement is simple: PREACH THE GOSPEL, LOVE PEOPLE, TRUST GOD. Everything we do is centered around the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the radical acceptance that flows from God’s self-sacrifice for us.
